Server Update
So our update problem turned out not to be resizing our server. We always try to do one thing at a time but this time we decided we’d upgrade and add memcached at the same time. The memcache install turned out to be the root of the issue.
We’ve resolved this for now and we’re planning on having scheduled downtime to reconfigure it and get it up to speed. We apologize for the inconvenience and we’re dedicated to continually improving and providing the best service possible.
Growing Pains
We’re growing at a rapid pace and we’re adding more and more images every day. With this comes scaling up our servers to accomidate our new and existing users. Today we upgraded our servers again to give them more storage and make them twice as fast. With this update you may need to delete your cookies to get it to work properly.
Thanks for using CAGE and we’re working on some exciting things we know you’ll love.
Update
After the server switch we’ve had a couple of reports that people are not able to see previously uploaded images. If you’re having issues please try clearing your cache and deleting your cookies. If this does not resolve your issue email us at hello [at] cageapp.com.
We apologize if this has caused any issues.
Server Updates
The server updates were successful and we’re now in a much better environment to provide all our users with the most reliable performance possible. The best part is we did this without any downtime.
- We moved Cage to a faster server in an environment that will allow us to scale as needed.
- As you may have experienced, in our old environment some of the emails that our system sent were not delivered or marked as spam. We’ve implemented a system that will hopefully resolve this in the future. There could still be a few delays for the next couple of hours.
We appreciate you using Cage and stay tuned as we announce some exciting things coming in the near future.
Server Upgrades: Sunday, October 16
The team at CAGE will be doing server maintenance and some much needed upgrades Sunday, October 16. This shouldn’t cause any problems in your service, but just in case, we wanted to let you know in advance. Plenty more to share with you all…soon! Have a great weekend and sorry in advance if you experience any disruption in your service (we promise it will be fast).

Cloud App of the Day
Wow. We’re flattered to be AppVita’s “Cloud App of the Day”. They posted a great review on CAGE and we’re humbled and honored. Our team has been hard at work building some new things and we’re excited to let the monster out of the cage soon. Thanks again for all your continued support, we appreciate you all!
You can read the full review/post here: http://www.appvita.com/2011/07/20/cage-present-your-designs-in-style/
The crew over at AppStorm recently posted a pretty in-depth review of CAGE. As with any startup building software in beta, you have plenty of insecurities, “will they find bugs or other issues” or “will they think it’s too simple or needs more features”, but at the end of they day, you have to have confidence that what you’re building is solving real problems and that you’re doing it in a simple, easy way (we also like to think it’s beautiful too).
So that’s our first official review of CAGE. We won’t spoil it for you and tell you what our score was (we’re pumped about it though) so that you can read for yourself. Feel free to continue reading it here: http://bit.ly/jvwfxr
New Custom Colors
Our team has been hard at work and judging from the awesome response we’re getting in both signups and user emails telling us how much they like the app; we’re onto something!
Our development cycle is an agile, quick release one, so expect lots of small updates in addition to the big major releases. This new feature was one that was requested and that we also felt would be useful during the presentation phase, so we spent a day or two building it and testing it….and now it’s live. You can now pick custom colors for both notes (sometimes our default just might not cut it) and also background colors (instead of the transparency or black options we had).
Just a little customization so that you can make CAGE, yours. Enjoy!
It’s exciting news here in the Cage as we’ve been published on one of our favorite publications on the web, The Next Web. Go check out the nice things they’ve said about us here.
We’re also honored to be recently featured in .NET Magazine as “one of the hottest beta sites on the web”. While we think what we’re building is pretty awesome, it’s great knowing others feel the same way. Thank you for featuring us, we”re humbled and flattered.
We’re Cage.
OKLAHOMA CITY (June 7, 2011) — CAGE, an online collaboration tool that allows agencies, design teams and freelancers to share and present their work for creative review, will launch public beta on Monday, June 13. CAGE was first released as an invite-only private beta during SXSWi in March. While in private beta, CAGE attracted a number of designers from companies including: Weber Shandwick, Ralph Lauren, Electric Pulp, Art Center College of Design, Ogilvy, nclud, and Moleskine.
“Clients should be wowed when they receive design mockups, but a lot of that is lost in mundane collaboration processes,” CAGE Co-Founder, Sandip Patel said. “Emails get messy. Feedback is out of context. Meetings run long. These things put strain on client relationships.
“CAGE eliminates the need for email threads, marathon client meetings and folders full of mockups and revisions. It’s as simple as uploading your work and sharing a unique URL. From there, you can add notes and comments directly onto the work so that the conversation stays focused on project.”
Stefan Hartwig, Partner at Electric Pulp said, “We needed a simple way of presenting mockups and tracking feedback in relation to the interface. Cage scratches that itch and more.”
CAGE Features Include:
- Centralized location to present and receive client feedback
- Team functionality
- Threaded design notes
- Group collaboration and notes
- Project presentation/slideshow
- Unique URLs to share via email or IM
- Works with browser-friendly image types
- Project statistics
- Privacy controls
